Create one phonebook to put on all switchbords?

Aaron,

This is not possible. The reason being is that every extension then can setup their phonebooks however they want. There is no global Switchboard phonebook that can be loaded for every extension. If you would like to see this feature as a future software feature, please send your request to features@switchvox.com.

This is disappointing, this would be a great feature request. To at least set the "default" phone list for people. If they want a custom list they could create another....

FYI, this feature request has been made several times, still waiting on response.....

All, this is a feature that is part of the product road map.  It will be in a future release.

Is the road map shared?  Available for Switchvox anywhere or should we rely on Asterisk Road map for guidance?

Hi Jake,

The road map is internal.  For now Global phonebooks are not yet available.  There is no available eta as of date.

You can upload contacts that can be shared globally using the "contacts" button (not for the phonebooks, only for hard phone users) via a csvfile.  It's a work around we've found.

Hi Shara,

Thank you for sharing. That is correct you can use Contacts or the Directory as a workaround.

I've suggested this over a year and a half ago. Glad I'm not the only one who needs it!

I would just like to make sure I understand this:

Is there no way for all the phones in our office to use a central directory server, phone book, database or any other data store?  I can't believe that is the case; I must have misunderstood.  Please tell me that I don't have to go and enter the phonebook on each phone in the office... and then update each phonebook when an entry changes.

Thanks,
   Tim.

Hey Shara,

Thanks for your contribution.

Can you tell me if that workaround will work for internal extensions please?  I'm trying to at least have everyone in the office be able to transfer calls to each other without having to yell out to ask what extension to transfer to. Alas, I cannot find a way to get all of the extensions into a phonebook, directory, or other data store that can be read by each of the extensions.

All ideas and suggestions most welcome.

Thanks,
  Tim.

I have a program that will do this. As long as the other extensions havethe phone book created, then this program will either copy from 1 phonebook to another or paste into a grid the phonebook entries to be copied.

Just to add to the discussion, we too would like to have this feature implemented.

We too would like to have the ability to have "shared" phone books. i.e. the ability to have a phone book that everyone can use.  Would of been nice to have been able to sort the phone book by First name too!

We too would like this and I'm still in absolute shock that this most basic feature is not available.

Ditto to what Yitz H says.

78 Stations, 50 of which all need to share five large external directories. It's 2015 and the request for shared phone books ha been out there for how long? Common guys, it's a database driven system. If I could unlock the software, half a day with PHP and it would be finished. These and other touches like sortable headers are simple in a scripted, databse driven system. Context tagging as well. Our business has no need for Salesforce which appears to be the only way to share a large contact base. Perhaps we need a bolt on for the API and our own SQL contact manager.

Hi, has anyone had any updates?  Is the program or script you run available anywhere Ira?  Really needing to be able to setup multiple extensions with the same phonebook.  Thanks

Hi Digium Team,
It is only logical to have a global phonebook in the switchvox and everyone has a shared view of the contacts via the switchboard. Please tell me if this feature is available now, this question has been going on since 2012. Please tell me something has been done in 2017.
