Switchvox memory leak -> High swap usage since upgrade to 5.8.5

Has any progress been made on a fix to this memory leak problem with 5.8.5?   Having to reboot our phone system every few days after it freezes is not what I would call an acceptable workaround for an Enterprise-class product :(

Alternatively, is there a way to downgrade a Switchvox appliance to an earlier version of the software?

Hello,

There is a resolution slated for 5.9.1 which should be out very shortly.
If you have support, you can open a tech support ticket and we can install a script that runs a cron job every hour to keep the memory down until the formal release of the fix.

If you would like to rollback the version, you will need to have a backup made on the earlier version as backups must be restored to the same version they were taken on.
You would lose any configurations, voicemail, logs, that were done after that backup.

I was told by support that there was no CRON job, just a tech using the VPN to restart the affected AGI process??  Where is the permanent fix??  It's been two months since 5.8.5 has been released!

@Nicholas - thanks for the information.  Can you provide guess on whether "very shortly" likely means "this month", several months, 2014 ???

Also- re: this cron job fix-- would this involve dropping calls every hour when it runs or is it non-destructive?
thanks

Hello,

D P:  The cron job install is a recent option as a patch until the permanent, true fix is released, and yes, we did only have the option to manually run the script before.
We understand the frustration this issue has caused many of our customers, but it was not identified when 5.8.5 was released, but quite a bit after, and engineering is working very hard on resolving it as quick as possible.

Larry: We have been told tentatively this month, but I cannot say that is in stone.
The cron job will not disrupt business or drop calls or anything of that nature.

Thank you.

our reseller has (again) re-opened this ticket with Digium as our system continues to crash periodically even after the so-called patch was applied.

Are we any closer to this mythical 5.9.1 release?  I can't understand how a supposedly "enterprise" solution can be rolled out with such a showstopper of a fault and so many months go by with no real fix.

As a result of this, we've been directed by our senior management to start looking into alternative phone solutions.  I know software has bugs, but the people who pay the bills have lost all confidence in this product :(

This has definitely been a problem for us as well and the patch cron didnt help at all. Updated to 5.8.5 and ever since our system slowly crashes and needs to be rebooted every couple days. With support, I had to debate that its not caused by our own hardware before they would even apply the patch. In any case, was planning to upgrade to 5.9 hoping the issue would be resolved, but now it sounds like the issue isnt resolved until 5.9.1?

Currently on 5.8.3.1 and held off from upgrading to 5.8.5. Can someone please confirm if the memory leak issue is fixed in 5.9 or if we do indeed need to wait until 5.9.1. Quite some time has pasted since August.

We are on 5.9 and still have the same issues popping up, just not as frequently. We were having to reboot atleast every other day, now its once per week, but yeah, eventually things stop responding as if the system is out of ram. reboot and the problems disappear for a few days then repeat. Was pretty solid before 5.8.5. Nothing but problems since.

Is 5.10 supposed to fix this issue? didnt see it addressed in the release notes.

Any update? I'm still running on 5.7, but don't want to upgrade if the issues haven't been resolved.

Have there been any updates to this issue?  I'm running 5.9 and this problem just started to surface a week ago.  I'm not seeing any mention of it for 5.10, 5.11 or 5.11.1.

We're still seeing this problem with 5.10.  I've just upgraded our system to 5.11.1.  Hoping this has been fixed.
