How to configure Access Controls for local Digium Phones
Information
Answer
For a local Digium Phone to be able to properly locate and register to a Switchvox PBX we need to make sure the Access Controls are properly configured, follow the below steps to ensure the proper access is set:
- Log into the /admin interface and go to Server -> Access Controls.
- By default, All Networks entry should have all services disabled (best practice) and everything enabled for the Local Network.
- If the phone falls under the Local Network subnet, you should be good to go. Just make sure SIP and Digium Config Server are set to On.
-
If the phone falls on a different local subnet, you will need to create a new entry for that subnet:
- Click Create Access Control Rule
- Give it a unique Rule Name
- Add the appropriate Network (Network must be a valid IP with CIDR notation; ie 192.168.1.0/32).
- I would also recommend set Never Block IPs to Yes
-
Under Allowed Services make sure to set SIP and Digium Config Server to Yes
- You can also allow other Allowed Services if you would like but for Digium phones all that is required are SIP and Digium Config Server to be set to Yes
- Save Rule
